What is the basic principle of this method?
See the "Method" page on website.
In what does it differ from other methods?
Most other methods involve reducing the number of calories ingested which forces the body to draw its energy from its own tissues, including the muscle mass. You may loose weight but you also loose water and precious muscle mass.
With its high intake in quality proteins and limited carbohydrate and fat intake, the Eurodiet program allows you to loose weight at the expense of your fat mass without compromising your muscle mass.
Are high protein diets dangerous for health?
No, absolutely not, providing you are followed by a doctor who has been trained to use this method and will check that you present no contraindication. Moreover, the high protein chemical index of our products guarantees the supply of ALL the essential amino acids. Our products are also supplemented in vitamins and minerals.
Note that the term "high protein diet" is misleading. The Eurodiet is not a "high protein diet" but an "adequate protein diet" as the amount of proteins provided by Eurodiet products is calculated to meet your specific individual needs.
What results may I expect?
The method is highly efficient and outcomes mainly depend on the Phases your doctor and yourself will have chosen and their duration.
Why Eurodiet and not just any other high protein product?
There are 3 main reasons to choose Eurodiet:
- The Eurodiet method and products are only available under trained medical surveillance. This is a key factor to the long term success of our program.
- Eurodiet products guarantee a high-protein low-carbohydrate intake. They are enriched in vitamins, mineral elements and poly-unsaturated fatty acids.... Read labels carefully to check whether other products do FULLY meet your needs.
- The quality and extent of the Eurodiet product range are unequalled: we offer over 60 products with varying textures, including several "ready-to-use" products.
What is the difference between Eurodiet high-protein products and meal substitutes?
Meal substitutes supply the energy equivalent to that of one meal, i.e. about 400/450 Kcal, mostly in the form of large amounts of carbohydrates (40-50 %).
Eurodiet products supply approximately 115 Kcal, 60% of which are high quality proteins. It is therefore very important that you do not replace Eurodiet products by meal substitutes, particularly during Phases 1 and 2.
Should one avoid certain foods when following a Eurodiet program?
You should scrupulously follow your doctor's recommendations as well as those included in the documents accompanying each program phase.
During Phases 1 and 2, you should absolutely avoid any foods containing carbohydrates and limit yourself to 1 bar a day so as to avoid compromising the ketosis mechanism. You should not, however, reduce the number of Eurodiet products that have been recommended in your program.
What can I do if I feel very hungry?
Normally, during Phases 1 and 2, the joint effect of ketosis and the high-protein intake should allow you to not feel hungry. Make sure you don't eat any high-carbohydrate content foods as this would compromise ketosis.
If you feel very hungry, take an additional product, preferably a sachet or a drink
Do I really need to persevere with my program once I've reached my objective at the end of Phase 2?
Yes, because this weight loss has to be sustained in the long term. Phase 3 will enable you to gradually reintroduce carbohydrates and progress towards a balanced diet with phase 4. This phase is essential and if you skip it you are at risk of rapidly putting weight on again. You should also start, or continue and intensify your exercise program.
I am following the program indicated by my doctor to the letter but I am not loosing weight. What should I do?
If you are scrupulously following your doctor's recommendations, the program should work and you should be loosing weight, particularly if you are in Phase 1 or Phase 2. However, weight loss never follows a linear pattern so weigh yourself once a week rather than every day. If you still see no change after one week, then consult your doctor.
I feel tired and suffer from cramps... What can I do?
Watch out! You might be suffering from a lack of potassium. Replace your fat-free milk by Laktolight which is potassium-supplemented.
I've been invited out for a meal. What can I do?
Go out... but limit your carbohydrate intake as much as possible to avoid disrupting the ketosis process (no cakes, sodas, starches or bread).
Eat lean proteins (meat, fish, eggs) and vegetables chosen from your #1 or #2 list. Avoid wine and alcohol.
